Since the age of 6, Cooper Bowen, a two-year member of the GSA 00 U17 Premier team, has wanted nothing more than to be a goalkeeper. That vision and years of hard work are paying off for the 16-year-old from Braselton, Georgia. Beginning in the fall 2015 season, Cooper stepped into a big team with big shoes to fill. In preparation for his play with this highly successful team, his training field was a starting GK position as a freshman with a nationally ranked high school team. The great year he had in high school was the perfect setting to get him ready to play with GSA. High school head coach Brian Shirley comments that, “he doesn’t play like a freshman, and he’s got the confidence in his ability to come in there and get the job done.”
