Down in South Alabama, one of the most pleasant surprises in the world of soccer is taking place thanks to the work of a club based in the home of the boll weevil, Enterprise. The Wiregrass Futbol Club has, over the last couple of years, developed into a successful club competing for, and winning, championships on the Division II level with ideas of conquering Division I play in its sights. Overseeing the club’s rise is Ken LeBlanc, a former military man with little to no experience with soccer until he was drafted to help coach his son’s team a little over a decade ago. “We’re a small community and we don’t have the pick of the litter of soccer players around this state,” explains LeBlanc.
