CROSSROADS 03 BOYS WHEN THE CROSSROADS 03 TEAM FORMED IN 2016 IN DECATUR, they started with 14 players. As you can imagine, that was a dicey situation in which to be. Head coach Dennis Mynatt says, “It posed a challenge in numbers from the beginning. Throughout the 2016 fall Alabama state league, I was concerned whether we would even have subs for some games. In fact, we didn’t have any subs for at least two state games. However, we only lost two of 10 state games and placed second in the fall 2016 state league.” Mynatt says the team has adopted a variety of playing personalities, which allows them to be extremely versatile — from quick combination passing to penetrating long balls, and excellent individual skill and talent, “which means that we have 11 playmakers on the

field rather than a handful — and an unspoken team consensus to continually improve in every aspect of the game. Determination to be the best athletes and the unconditional love of the game are the two main motivators that come to mind when I think about this 03 team.” Mynatt says as 2016 D2 state cup finalist, “our goal for 2017 is to take the Alabama D2 state cup championship. Whether the championship happens or not, the team is determined to work hard, progress, and expand their love of the game. This year, we’re looking to have a full roster, which allows for numerous opportunities to progress as a team — and I don’t have to worry so much about numbers for practice and games.
