JAMES LANDBERG CLEVELAND FC FLAMES 00 BOYS CENTER FULLBACK JAMES LANDBERG BEGAN PLAYING SOCCER WHEN HE WAS THREE YEARS OLD, in Wilmington, North Carolina. According to his family, ever since then, James has insisted on playing as much as possible, whenever and wherever he can due to his love of the game. He is “an aggressive, hardworking player,” according to his coach, Josh Foggin. “He continually pushes himself to grow and develop. He is great at reading the field and knowing the right moment to apply pressure to win the ball and the right moment to distribute the ball. Whether it’s a swift pass out wide, or a long through ball to one of our strikers up top.” Foggin says James is a vocal player who reads the field well. “He organizes the back with his teammates and communicates well to execute passes and overlapping runs. He has the respect of his teammates and is a player who works hard the entire time he is on the field. He doesn’t give up but continues to persevere even through mistakes. “I believe a major element of the game of soccer is the mental aspect. A player’s ability to focus on the game and stay engaged at all times is essential. James does an excellent job keeping his focus and using his energy to continue to push harder and make quick corrections on the fly when small mistakes are made,” Foggin said. According to James’ family, he played on numerous Select teams in Wilmington, North Carolina; Collierville, Tennessee; Moses Lake, Washington State; and, now, in Cleveland, Tennessee. In Cleveland, James has been active with high school, select and indoor soccer during the winter off-season. He plays select with the Cleveland Flames, and has done so for three years. In addition to his athletic skills, James was inducted into the National Technical Honor Society and National Honor Society. He is also involved in Mu Alpha Theta and Circle of Champions, while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. James’ soccer goals include personal improvement in the game, learning new positions to be a more balanced player, and helping each team he plays with to great levels of accomplishment. Personally, he wants to maintain his GPA while becoming involved with community activities in preparation for his adult life. He’d like to play college soccer, and has aspirations of becoming a chemical or aerospace engineer.
