SOMETIMES, IT’S BEST TO TURN OVER THE ARTICLE TO THE COACH…

“My name is Tommy Kellum and I am the head coach of the LSC U14 boys soccer team. I have been coaching for about 10 seasons. To tell you a little bit about the LSC Celtic U14 boys, I will start with this. This group of boys are eager and competitive. This team is a very special team. I can truly say that I've never coached a team that tries so hard to please, and do what you're trying to ask them to do on the soccer field. To put it very simple, they listen, and they work on making themselves better. As their coach, I have to work hard on making sure they

have the right fundamentals to excel and continue. I'm not always easy on them, but neither is the game of soccer. Trying to hold the attention of 12 to 14 year old boys can prove to be difficult sometimes. However, we still manage to find ways to keep practice interesting while improving. From the first time the boys and I met each other, they clicked. I'm not going to lie; they were definitely rough around the edges and like any soccer team some kids are better than others. Getting them to communicate and work together as a team instead of as one person is what has brought this team together.

deal of pride in collecting "Donuts". Donuts are what we consider shutouts. It just puts a little humor in the game. The boys have started this season 6-0 scoring 36 points and not giving up any goals. They are very proud of their record and look to try to finish the season unbeaten. Only time will tell. They have learned that with hard work and determination, becoming undefeated, is possible. I can definitely say that coaching these boys has been a pleasure and I am going to hate to lose them to the U-16 team next year. At least they will be prepared and up for the challenge.”
