ORIGINALLY FOUNDED IN 1993 AS THE PENSACOLA FOOTBALL CLUB BY HASSAN NAZARI, A former 1978 World Cup and 1976 Olympic player for Iran, the Gulf Coast Texans (GCT) became an affiliate of the Dallas Texans Football Club, one of the nation’s top youth soccer programs six years ago. Since then GCT has risen to one of, if not the top, youth soccer club in the Florida panhandle. GCT Director of Coaching David Kemp has been in the Pensacola area since arriving in the area to play for the University of West Florida in 1994. During that time he’s seen soccer grow exponentially in the area and the club found a certain amount of success. However, the decision to become a Dallas Texans affiliate has taken the club to a new level. “Since then we’ve doubled in size and have helped us become more professional on the field and off the field,” Kemp says. “So behind the scenes and the workings of the club, they have given us a lot DAVID KEMP of advice on professional practices and how to manage a soccer club.” Director of Coaching Within the last five years, GCT has notched two national championships, including a WPSL title USSF National License for the club’s semipro women’s club in 2012. In fact, the club’s bread and butter have become the TYPES OF PROGRAMS OFFERED development of female players throughout the Gulf Coast. In 2017 alone, 14 girls signed on to play Recreational | Competitive | WPSL collegiate soccer, nine of them with NCAA Division I schools. In addition, GCT has placed 75 players Mens | Womens with colleges over the last three years, an astounding number for a club in the Gulf Coast area. “We’ve had tremendous success on the girl’s side in placing players in college,” Kemp says. “Our ADDRESS 10360 Ashton Brosnaham Road, reputation is if you’re looking to place kids in college then you need to be playing with our program if Pensacola, FL 32534 you live in the Panhandle.” PHONE: 850-390-2018
