Georgia, Athens United Soccer Association (AUSA) was created after two smaller soccer clubs, Athens International and the Apple Jacks, joined forces way back in 1972. Athens United is a pioneer club of Ajax Football Club incorporating the Amsterdam-based club's curriculum into their training regimen. While the club does work hard to ensure each team is competitive and plays to win, White says they measure success on other factors, such as providing a welcoming environment to players of all ethnic and economic backgrounds, giving back to the local community, and helping kids develop positive character traits through the game of soccer. “At Athens United, winning isn't everything, but the commitment to be successful is uncompromising,” White says. “The core values we strive to teach and instill are integrity, discipline, respect, sportsmanship, excellence, and leadership. “We instill healthy, positive, and lasting core values in our players in order to better prepare them to compete successfully in a competitive world,” White adds. “Our focus is to maximize the positive influence we have as a youth sports organization on the local, regional, and national soccer community as well as to provide competitive opportunities for kids from all cultural and economic backgrounds through the beautiful game.”
