IN THE SOUTHERN PART OF ALABAMA, THERE ARE A HANDFUL OF CLUBS THAT ARE pushing for the progression of soccer. One of them is the Mobile-based South Alabama Soccer Association. The club has a variety of programs under its reach, from recreational level youth to adult leagues. The club has a history of being a recreational league, but they are in the process of becoming a Division 4 competitive program that will offer many more opportunities to their players and the community as a whole. “2018 marks the beginning of a new era for the TAA Soccer program,” League President Eddie Hamilton explained about this new opportunity. “With the ASA affiliation under SASA of the TAA Soccer program as a Division 4 Youth soccer club, it marks the beginning of the start of the first Division 3 travel team from the TAA Soccer Program to showcase the level of talent from the players in our program.” Community is a large part of what SASA is all about. In order to help some players that cannot afford typical competitive soccer fees, the club has a variety of sponsors to help cover the costs. Perhaps what is even more remarkable is the fact that some of the adults from their adult JONATHAN CUEVA league will help some of the younger kids. Director of Coaching “We want to give back to the community and especially the youth,” league president Eddie USSF B license Hamilton said when talking about the club. “Our program started with about 80 kids and now has grown to 180, and we try and provide to anyone and everyone. We’re looking for our own complex, but right now it is all incremental growth. We’re just excited to be part of this journey to spread soccer throughout the community and the bridge the gap.”
