While the United Soccer Club's '06 Premiere Boys squad may have flashier players soaking up the attention, the anchor of the team is Deivi Bucio. In his role as a defensive midfielder, head coach David Cienfuegos says Deivi is, first and foremost, a great ball winner and solid tackler with an ability create havoc on opposing offenses. He also possesses great field awareness and a high soccer IQ. “Deivi is very smooth on the ball as far as turning and looking to play to the opposite side of the field,” Cienfuegos says. “His presence and knowledge make him a natural leader on the field.” Cienfuegos says Deivi, a team captain, is a quiet leader, the kind of player who sets an example for his teammates while largely staying out of the spotlight. “I feel like he is the glue of the team that kind of goes unnoticed on some of your successful teams,” he says. “He always has a level head for practice and for games. He's just the guy that is going to give you the same quality performance day-in and day-out.”
