MONROVIA BLAST 03 GIRLS THE MONROVIA BLAST 03 GIRLS TEAM WAS ESTABLISHED IN FEBRUARY 2014. HEAD COACH MATTHEW MORGAN SAYS, “THIS TEAM was the charter Monrovia Blast 04 girls team and was begun to provide the girls with the opportunity to play at a higher and more competitive level. We moved the team up to an 03 girls team in the fall of 2016.” The Monrovia Blast 03 girls are playing DII in the Alabama Soccer Association (ASA) State League. Four nationally licensed coaches head the team: Morgan serves as the head coach while Ed Sasan, Eric Baker, and Gerry Davis serve as assistant coaches. Tracy Sisson is the team manager. “We not only try to develop better skilled soccer players, we also try to nurture a family-oriented environment where the girls get together outside of soccer to develop their friendships,” Morgan says. There may not be friendship trophies awarded, but the Monrovia Blast 03 have plenty of hardware celebrating their athletic prowess. Some of the team accomplishments include: Spring 2014 3v3 Live – Finalist; Fall 2014 Girls Jr. Cup - Semi-Finalist; Spring 2015 Open Cup Semi-Finalist; Fall 2015 Huntsville FC Kicks – Champions; Fall 2015 gotsoccer.com #1 State Ranking U12G; Spring 2016 Alabama State Cup – Finalist; Spring 2016 gotsoccer.com #2 State Ranking U12G; and Fall 2016 Huntsville FC Kicks – Finalist. The team includes girls from various middle school soccer programs including Monrovia Middle School, Discovery Middle School, Liberty Middle School, and Covenant Christian Academy (CCA) Middle School.
