She said, “Mostly, you just want them to have fun and to feel comfortable out on the field. It’s like a ‘Mommy & Me’ or ‘Daddy & Me’ style where the parents are on the field with them. I always tell the parents, ‘They could be a superstar today, the next Messi, or they’re just going to be watching the airplanes and picking flowers.’ As long as they’re having fun and they sleep well at night for you, that’s totally fine.” Snow continued, “For a lot of these kids, being three, it’s the first real social

interaction they have had. Just getting them out there and playing with their peers is important. It’s that first real introduction to the game.” The Kickeroos program is important to the long-term health of the club. Snow said, “What’s really cool is when we come out on Saturday and we have our games going on with the U5 and U6 fields, so many of these new balls rolling in are from the Kickeroos. Kids who have graduated from the Kickeroos and now actually playing.” “When I was younger as a coach, I would always say, ‘I could never coach that age.’ Once I starting doing it, I thought, ‘This is great!’ It’s soccer at its purest, it’s just so much fun with those kids.”
