CLUB SPOTLIGHT DESPITE SOME UPS AND DOWNS OVER THE YEARS, HOOVER SOCCER CLUB (HSC) is a club on the rise. Located in the backdoor of other major clubs in the area, HSC’s leadership believe the club is poised to claim a spot as one of the top competitive soccer clubs in the greater Birmingham area and is working diligently to make that vision a reality. “Hoover has the same potential as a Birmingham United and Vestavia Soccer Club, if not more,” says Trey Knox, HSC Marketing TOMAS FOX Director. “This city is huge. It’s so diverse,” Knox says. “We’re going to tap into that Director of Coaching and we’re going to get things stable here and then when we’re going to try to hit those numbers. Due to PHONE: 205-402-7330 open in the fall of 2017, the facility’s turf fields will allow HSC to train in all types of WEBSITE: www.hooversoccerclub.com weather and bring the club’s teams and coaches together in one location. “This new complex is going to put us on the map and make us legitimate right off the bat,” Knox says. “There’s going to be nine fields next to our new office which will really give us a new field and a new look for the club as well. Once we get these turf fields up and running, we’re going to be able to give our grass fields a break. This new complex is going to be really good for us. We’re excited about this complex. I wish I didn’t have to wait another nine months for it.” Knox, who has been in his role with the club for a little over nine months, says HSC is making the changes necessary to be financially healthy, more organized, and a more attractive soccer program for kids in the diverse communities of Hoover and beyond. One of the more affordable competitive clubs in the area — $1,100 for the season as opposed to $1,400 for similar clubs — HSC’s leadership still believes the club can grow, reach more kids, and emerge as a major player on the soccer scene very soon. “We know there is a lot of potential here in Hoover, untapped potential, that we are excited about, especially with the new complex coming,” Knox says. “The structure is starting to take place even higher at the board of directors level. Our current board is very engaged and is looking after the overall health of the club.”
