SSA SAVANNAH UNITED REBRANDED WITH ITS NEW NAME WITHIN THE LAST FIVE YEARS. HOWEVER, regardless of the name of the club, SSA Savannah has been on the forefront of soccer development since the club’s founding in 1992. During its 25 years in existence, SSA Savannah has benefitted from a level of consistency few clubs can enjoy. The club’s Director of Coaching, Gary Wright, has been with SSA Savannah for 19 years, overseeing development in a soccer leader in east Georgia. The club offers soccer programming for practically every age group, starting with Early Goals, a fun soccer program focusing on simple coordination, ball familiarity, listening skills and teamwork. SSA Savannah also offers recreational and advanced programs for kids ranging from Under 6 through Under 19, as well as an adult soccer program. “I feel like we do a pretty good of having a place for everybody,” Wright says. The club’s growth can be attributed to the merger of the Savannah Celtic FC and Coastal Georgia Soccer Association, who came together in the spring of 2013 to join forces in order to advance youth soccer throughout Savannah. The club is also under the Southern Soccer Academy umbrella, making SSA Savannah the largest youth soccer club in the area with more than 2,200 clubs participating in recreational and competitive soccer each year. The club also has more than 130 volunteer coaches, 35 licensed staff coaches and teams have scored close to 30,000 goals. More than just numbers, however, Wright says becoming part of the SSA was a decision that has benefitted the players in major ways. Wright says players now have opportunities for growth and exciting soccer adventures, such as tougher competition in club play, access to major showcases and tournaments and international soccer adventures. “Our partnership with them, alongside with our development club Chelsea Football Club in England,
