Head Coach Trent Furtsch’s 03 Girls Elite is the first team in Inter Atlanta FC’s history to be selected to Region III RPL, and finished second in Georgia State Cup for 2017. Perhaps that success isn’t surprising given that the majority of the girls have been playing together since U8, creating an extremely tight-knit team both on and off the field. They have all been around each other through the academy, and live within three miles of one another. On the field, their skills allow them to keep the ball and build up play while their personality is to attack with speed. They set goals and strive to achieve them. They all act as leaders, all responsible for the players in front of them; it starts in the goal
and into the co-captain center back, according to Inter Atlanta FC’s Frank Williamson. It was a big year, what with the promotion into premier league Regional Play and multiple showcase tournaments. Williamson said the club takes pride that, “these girls all had opportunities to play for bigger clubs and had plenty interested in them, but they all chose to stay. What’s key for them is that they understand the importance of club, coaching and development. They’re as homegrown as it gets, and that’s been the key to their success. The majority have come through the academy together, which shaped them to be the most successful girls’ side in Inter Atlanta’s history.”
