Smyrna Soccer Club JACOB HUTH JACOB HUTH SERVES AS CAPTAIN AND ATTACKING midfielder for the 2002 Boys Classic One team. He joined the Smyrna Soccer Club in fall 2014 for the chance to be coached by Matt Bellamy. Coach Bellamy says, “Jacob is an exceptional talent on and off the field. His ability to read the game is many year ahead of his age.” The two have quickly formed a bond and shaped a team that won Classic Two State Cup in their first year together. They have also won various local tournaments, including the Red Diamond Classic, Atlanta Cup, Smyrna Classic, CASL, and Peach Classic. The team looks to repeat as State Cup Champions this May in Columbus, after finishing second in fall play. In addition to his play at Smyrna, Jacob has been a member of the Georgia Olympic Development Program since 2012, building friendships with players across the various clubs in the Atlanta area. He has also played on cross-club indoor teams each winter, and competed in Super Y each summer. In 2015, Jacob was named one of the Best XI from Region III at the Super Y Regional Scouting Series. Top Soccer reported, “Huth was one of the younger players to participate but it didn’t show. He controlled the middle of the field in every game, sitting deep in the #6 role, picking up the pieces and the majority of the time playing simple passes to link the play. He does however possess a great range to his passing and sprayed a few cross-field balls that were pinpoint! Huth is also tough in the tackle.”
