05 GIRLS BLUE THE CORE OF COACH MEGHAN KEMP’S TEAM HAS BEEN TOGETHER FOR FOUR YEARS. IN THOSE FOUR YEARS, KEMP says the girls work really well together when their passing game is on. The team also works a lot on possession in practices. The girls do set goals for progress. Kemp says the girls lost to a team that they felt they were very competitive with; their ultimate goal is to beat that team this upcoming season and improve as a whole in general. Their coach says the girls also create their own motivation. “Every time they have a bad practice, they make sure that their next practice is better. I find them talking to each other before practice about what they think they need to work on in order to be successful, and most of them are only 11 years old!” she marvels. “This group of girls is very competitive. They don’t like losing but when they do, they use that as a huge motivating factor. They want to be number one in the state and they want to be the best team in the club.” In addition to competing well together, their coach gives an emphatic ‘YES’ when asked if they are a close group, helping each other on and off the field. “They spend time with each other outside of soccer. This group had the highest attendance rate within the club for extra training sessions. They encourage each other to go to extra training and be better. “The chemistry on this team is amazing. They are very coachable and work hard to take what they learn in practice and
