Aris FC GIRLS 06 BLACK THE GIRLS 06 BLACK HAS BEEN TOGETHER IN ARIS FC FOR A year, under the direction of head coach Rachel Schmidt and assistant coach Scott Mills. Mills says the team’s playing style is strong defense, with an outside-in attack. “They never fear being down, and tend to outlast the opponent. I’ve seen them down 0-2 and they still feel like they have them right where they want them. They never give up.” He says they “are motivated most by progress — by beating a team that has beat them before, by watching the team get better with each practice and game, by winning tournament games and getting hardware.” The girls do set goals; they are all striving to enter a tournament as a gold team and win the tournament. Mills says the girls are extremely close.
up together in Rec and have been playing with each other, or against each other, since U5/U6 — great families who all know each other, and a great community.” The team had a solid season, reaching the finals in two of the three tournaments entered. “The team really spends a lot of time and effort on team building and accountability to each other,” says Mills. “Combined with Aris FC’s focus on skill training, and the prospect that these girls could be together for the next six-seven years, I see some amazing things in the future for them.” He’ll get no argument from Aris FC’s director of coaching.
