THIS IS THE TEAM’S FIRST SEASON TOGETHER BUT ALL OF THE PLAYERS HAVE BEEN IN THE IMPACT SYSTEM FOR MANY YEARS. THAT’S a benefit since they are all trained the same way and gelled as a team very quickly, according to Coach Matthew Burleson. “Impact is a possession football club so this team has the same characteristics,” Burleson explains. The team motivates one another by playing good football. “They are driven not only to win but to win the right way,” their coach says. The team’s overall goal is to win the Classic 1 title and eventually have players picked up by a college team but they understand that each practice and each game has a process for preparation. The boys are definitely a close group. “They have been at Impact for many years and even though they were on different teams, in different age groups, we always try to cross those age group lines and scrimmage and train together,” Burleson says. “So the boys knew each other before the age group changes, making it an easy transition for them.” The team was recently promoted to Classic 1 after their first season, so the upcoming season will be both exciting and challenging. They will also begin preparation for the Georgia State Cup.
